It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed Australia needed 66 more at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
